In KZN, we may not boast "official" Naturist resorts or beaches, but that doesn't cramp our style! We've got a bunch of Naturist-friendly spots that we wholeheartedly recommend. As part of the KZNNA community, we've established a cool setup where we make block bookings at major resorts—ones that truly embody the Naturist spirit and meet all the criteria. We're all about that easygoing, friendly atmosphere, and we've got four fantastic events lined up each year, usually during the summer vibes. These events are our time to shine, bringing together like-minded individuals in spots that truly understand and embrace the essence of Naturism. So, if you're in for some sun-soaked, community-filled adventures right here in KZN, join us for good times, great resorts, and a Naturist experience that's nothing short of awesome. ☀️🌴🎉
LUXURIOUS OUTDOORS EXPERIENCE
This resort is a favorite amongst our members, and we have a members only event at least once a year here. Let me tell you about Kingfisher Lakeside Retreat, a little slice of heaven down on the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. You’ll find it in the charming village of Trafalgar, perched right by the newly spruced-up Black Lake. It’s like our secret spot, right on the edge of the Mpenjati Nature Reserve, and just a breezy 5-minute stroll to a pure, untouched nude beach.
Kingfisher Lakeside Retreat is all about that fancy, outdoor vibe, with cozy glamping-tents and cottages that are next-level comfortable. It’s for the folks who want the best of both worlds – camping’s freedom and nature’s embrace, all mixed with the ease of top-notch self-catering setups.
By the way, we KZNNA pays these guys a visit regularly, so why not come hang out with us? 🌿🏕️🌞

Happy days!
Naturist friendly only under condition, the entire property can be booked as a clothing-optional retreat for Naturist/Nudist groups.
The Hooting Owl Guest House, a unique African Thatch Bush-Veld Lodge in a coastal setting, blends harmoniously into its environment. Located in Marina Beach on the "Golf Coast" of KwaZulu-Natal South Coast, it's a two-hour drive from Durban’s King Shaka International Airport. Nestled in a sub-tropical forest, it offers valley views and abundant birdlife, along with affordable self-catering accommodations. Guests can relax in peace and privacy, away from the hustle and bustle of tourist areas, at the tranquil Marina Beach with its Blue Flag Beach. While welcoming adult guests of all backgrounds, bookings are not accepted from families with children under 16. 🏖️🌅🌿
Down in KZN, we’ve got a couple of unofficial spots that naturists have been hitting up for over three decades. You’ve got Mpenjati on the South Coast and Umhlanga Lagoon beach up on the North Coast.
Now, here’s the deal – there aren’t any beaches in South Africa where getting your tan on in the buff is totally legal. So, folks who decide to bare it all at these spots are technically taking a bit of a gamble. But the good news is, no one’s actually been taken to task or successfully prosecuted, for going au naturel on these beaches in a very long, long time. 🏖️😎🌞
Mpenjati naturist beach? It’s a bit north of the Mpenjati River mouth. The beach is pretty roomy and flat, and the waves aren’t too crazy most of the time. Naturists and regular beachgoers chill here together, no biggie.
Now, gotta mention, there aren’t any lifeguards or shark-fighting gear on this beach. So, you gotta play it safe when you’re hanging out there. 😎🏖️🌊
Now, the naturist beach at Umhlanga Lagoon is another spot folks know about in KZN. Check it out.
We have done a recce there in September 2024. I can tell you this, there has been quite the effort from the eTikweni- Municipality after the devastation of the riots, chemical spills, sewage spills. Fortunately mother nature is resilient, and after a few floods and storm surges, and stellar efforts from the eTikweni Municipality the beach is cleaned up now and gets visited by few naturists again.
Please always cleanup after yourself.
But here’s the scoop: We would not advise to swim in the lagoon, or wander in the dues. This is not just to protect nature, but also for your own safety. The waves on the ocean side can get pretty wild, and some rocky spots, so it is better to go on a wind still day. No lifeguards on duty, so you’ve gotta be super careful. Safety first, always! 🌊
